ROOTS 2 Reentry

APSC’s ROOTS 2 Reentry (R2R) program provides support formerly incarcerated APIs and “Others” in Alameda county as they return home and embark on their reentry journey. The program is staffed by formerly incarcerated people with lived life experience and offers the following services:

Peer Support

  • Individual peer support with R2R staff who offer support and insight from their own lived experiences

  • Peer support group for formerly incarcerated people

Community Immersion

  • Opportunities to reconnect and network with community members

  • Social activities and events

  • Volunteer opportunities to give back to the community and perform community service

Reentry Navigation

  • Navigating access to social services such as: obtaining an ID, Medi-Cal, and work permit applications

  • Referrals to network of partners for support in areas such as finding housing, finding employment or workforce training, meeting education goals

  • Care packages/basic supplies may be provided to newly released individuals depending on immediate needs and availability of resources
